The year is almost over and it has been a very good year for red fish I have been able to get good fish this whole year. Hope that 2014 will bring the same kind of fishing to this area. I am starting to get on the trout and today was just a really good day. Not any big ones but a lot of smaller fish that was ready to bit.

It is getting close to the end of the year and the weather is great, this week it has been in the mid 80 degrees all week and the weather man is calling for 86 on Sunday. I have been fishing a lot this month and that has keep me out of the Mall's, that is a good thing any time of the year. The big black drum are here and the redfish are eating. Redfish and trout fishing is good even up in the day I got on the water today at 11am. and got this nice redfish. The redfish are eating when you find them and there are plenty of slot fish all together the weather has been good for the most part. We do have fronts coming down from up north with some windy days but over all it has been a good December for Central Florida. The fish are eating after the cold fronts and one nice thing is you don't have to get on the water early to catch them. They are calling for nice weather for just about all of December so that will mean a lot of fishing days. With the temperature's running 70 to 80 it is really nice on the water. This year we are seeing more birds and ducks on the water than I have seen in the past few years, looks like even the ducks know it has got cold around the country. Go to my website and book yourself a trip and we will get you on the water.

As a Charter Fishing Caption all days are Special I get to go fishing, but today was even
more Special I was one of the lucky fishing Caption's that was ask by Capt. Justin Price
to fish in the 1st. Annual Event where Charter Fishing Caption's get to take a member
of the Project Healing Waters Organization fishing. This organization is dedicated to
our Disabled Veterans through fly fishing and associated activities. The Event put
on by the Mid Coast Flyfishers and held out of JB's Fish Camp in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
I had the honor of fishing with George a veteran who served and was wounded in
Vietnam. George was a great guy to fish with and talk to I hope he had as much fun
as I did. It was great talking to all the veterans after the fishing event and being able
to thank the Vets. personally for there sacrifice and there service to our country and
let them all know they are the " Stars " that we all salute today. It was not the best
conditions today for fishing we did get fish and that made for evan a better day.
I think all the Guides had fun with the Veterans and we are all looking forward to
the next Event. This is just a small way for the Captions to give something back to
these guys. We all have to remember while these guys came home hurt, but alive
so many of our brothers and sisters did not. Also want to thank JB's Fish Camp for
the food it was great.

This has been a good year for the redfish spawn hate to see it be over but all good things come to a end. When it comes to having a great place to fish this part of Florida is by far the best place to fish for large redfish, and I am so lucky to have a job like this. The schools of fish are getting bigger each year and so are the fish. I keep saying to myself it can't get any better than this, but it is getting better every year.

Redfish schools are getting bigger and they are turned on. This coming full moon should be the last of the spawn for this year. The way the weather has been it may go on but we will just have to wait and see. It has been a great year for big redfish.
